UTRIX Launches a Poultry Performance Enhancer and 6 New Liquid Feed Solutions in the Lebanese Market
ShareShareShareShareShare

The launch was marked by a customer event in Beirut, Lebanon. At the event, Dr. Maarten De Gussem, international poultry expert and founder of Vetworks, gave a keynote presentation on gut health and performance. He highlighted the importance of precision nutrition and practical field understanding, setting the stage for the introduction of UTRIX’s new solutions.

Dr. De Gussem said: “In the last 15 years in Europe, an estimated 50-70 % of broiler antibiotic use has been linked to bacterial enteritis (BE). For a long time, BE was confused with NE, but while NE is driven by one bacterium, BE is a complex, multifactorial disease. Antibiotics are not a long-term solution – even narrow-spectrum drugs disturb the beneficial microbiome and problems often relapse after treatment. The future lies in better diagnosis, data-driven management, natural, non-toxic alternatives and, above all, a clear focus on gut health as the key driver of performance”.

BactiCid®NG: Better Gut Health Through Targeted Release

Valerie Daher, Product Manager at UTRIX explains: “The global phase-out of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) marks a major turning point in animal production. While this shift presents challenges in maintaining gut health and managing enteric diseases, it also opens the door to innovative, science-based solutions. Through the use of specialty feed additives, farmers increase bird resilience and reduce reliance on AGPs and also make them better equipped to fight viral diseases. In response, we have developed BactiCid®NG. This next-generation feed additive is designed to improve gut health, enhance the microbiota balance, and optimize poultry performance.”

BactiCid®NG is an advanced formulation that combines tributyrin with encapsulated essential oils for a synergistic effect on gut health and performance. It comes in a powder, antibiotic-free premixture and has a recommended inclusion rate of 0.5 – 1.0 kg per T of feed (with higher dosages recommended for poultry starter diets). Daher addresses: “What truly sets this product apart is our patented UtriCAPS microencapsulation technology, ensuring controlled intestinal release and targeted action where it matters most, delivering consistent, proven results.”

UTRIX trials demonstrated the superiority of this microencapsulation technology over competitor technologies. Whereas competing products released up to 90% of their active ingredients during gastric digestion, the product delivered controlled release throughout the entire gastrointestinal tract, ensuring efficacy where it matters most.

New Feed Solutions Launched for Drinking Water

In addition to the BactiCid®NG launch, UTRIX also introduced 6 new liquid drinking-water solutions for poultry in the Lebanese market: UtriCool, UtriRespi, UtriCalm, UtriShell L, UtriCid®DW and KleenTox®DW. These feed additive solutions are typically used at an inclusion level of 0.5 – 1 L per 1,000 L of drinking water.

Product Manager Daher explains that administering feed additives through drinking water offers a rapid and reliable method of support, particularly when feed consumption is negatively impacted by heat stress or health-related issues. “Collectively, these 6 solutions form a practical, responsive toolkit for poultry producers in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), enabling targeted intervention via the water line at critical moments.”

With the launch of BactiCid®NG and the 6 liquid solutions in Lebanon, these products are now available throughout the MEA region. Each product was developed by UTRIX with a clear purpose: to empower producers with effective tools for optimizing performance under diverse field conditions. These new innovations were showcased at VIV MEA, held between November 25–27 in Abu Dhabi.
