Wittaya Aqua and Maverick Innovation unite to support cutting-edge evaluation of feed ingredients and additives
ShareShareShareShareShare

Canada based Wittaya International Inc. (Wittaya), a global leader in data-driven solutions for aquaculture and terrestrial livestock, and Bangladesh-based Maverick Innovation (Maverick), an agri-innovation specialist, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate on offering cutting-edge support for the evaluation and commercialization of feed ingredients and additives for warm-water aquaculture and poultry production.

By joining forces, the two companies will empower businesses—ranging from emerging startups to established suppliers—seeking to introduce new or enhanced additives, feed formulations, and nutritional solutions to rapidly growing markets around the world.

In 2022, global aquafeed production surpassed 50 million metric tonnes, while poultry feed production reached 570 million metric tonnes in 2023. It is anticipated that the consumption of both will continue to rise steadily through 2030. Consequently, the demand for effective feed additives and quality nutritional inputs is growing rapidly. However, many companies with innovative technologies encounter significant challenges, ranging from regulatory compliance to market positioning and technical validation. Wittaya and Maverick aim to offer a comprehensive package of expertise and resources to assist a product’s journey from initial concept to commercial adoption.

Evan Hall, Chief Executive Officer at Wittaya, said,

“As a trusted partner to feed producers, ingredient suppliers, and farm operators, we understand how challenging it can be to bring novel additives to market. Our collaboration with Maverick Innovation will give companies the tools and insights they need to successfully navigate trial design, performance evaluations, and regulatory considerations—all while ensuring that their products fit seamlessly into aquaculture and poultry production systems.”

Maverick Innovation, headquartered in Bangladesh—a hub for warm-water aquaculture such as  shrimp and tilapia, as well as a thriving poultry sector—will contribute on-the-ground expertise, local market access, and in-depth knowledge of regional industry dynamics.

Wittaya, operating from both Toronto and Singapore, brings advanced data analytics, trial support, and precision nutrition consulting. Together, the two organizations will offer tailored strategies that equip businesses to demonstrate the value of their  ingredients or additives in real-world conditions.

Dr. Dominique Bureau, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Wittaya Aqua, added,

“Beyond technical validation and market analysis, we both are committed to fostering an ecosystem where knowledge sharing and capacity-building initiatives flourish.”

Kabir Chowdhury of Maverick Innovation, added on a key objective of this MoU,

“This partnership is all about helping companies fast-track their innovations, so farmers and producers can benefit from proven solutions that improve feed conversion, enhance animal health, and optimize profitability.

“By working closely with Wittaya, we can conduct rigorous testing, collate performance metrics, and build compelling commercial cases for new products—strengthening our clients’ market entry and long-term success.”

The MOU outlines plan for joint workshops, training sessions, and industry forums that will connect ingredient developers, feed manufacturers, and producers with thought leaders in science, nutrition, and farm management.

By drawing on each other’s strengths—Wittaya Aqua’s extensive capabilities in research and data modeling, and Maverick’s expertise in innovation and regional market adoption—the two companies will create a bridge between groundbreaking feed solutions and the businesses that need them most. Ultimately, this partnership paves the way for enhanced profitability, animal welfare, and sustainability in aquaculture and poultry sectors worldwide.
