Orffa and Sea Forest announce an exclusive long-term distribution partnership, which includes distribution of the SEAFEED™ range of products in the European Union and other selected countries worldwide. Sea Forest’s SEAFEED™ supplement addresses one of the most significant challenges of our time: fighting climate change through the abatement of methane emissions via animal nutrition.
The SEAFEED™ range of products is designed to combat methane emissions in ruminants. By harnessing and recreating the power of the red seaweed Asparagopsis, the SEAFEED™ range of products is effective in reducing methane emissions to the highest extent, outshining currently available alternatives. These products can be applied in dairy, beef, and small ruminant (sheep, goat) rations, either through premix and compound feed manufacture or directly on farm. The goal is to have widespread implementation to support the ruminant industry on its current path to a more sustainable future. Orffa and Sea Forest have collaborated already for several years with contract research organizations (CRO), universities, and industry stakeholders to confirm earlier scientific dossiers within European circumstances. These trials are intended to allow safe and efficient use under EU conditions, and form the basis for product registrations and subsidy schemes.
A large number of countries have committed to the Global Methane Pledge, ensuring efforts will be made to effectively address climate change. As methane is a stronger greenhouse gas than CO2, with a shorter half-life, it is potentially the quickest way to address climate change. Methane reduction is also part of many large companies’ Scope 3 efforts to become climate neutral.
