FORFARMERS CUSTOMERS’ POULTRY FLOCKS ARE HEALTHIER
ShareShareShareShareShare

Avined’s research into antibiotic use in broilers and parent stock chickens shows that the daily animal dose in flocks fed ForFarmers poultry feed is significantly lower than the national average in 2024. Avined’s research included all Dutch broiler and rearing flocks. Of these, more than 4,000 flocks on 292 farms were fed poultry feed produced by ForFarmers in 2024. For slow-growing chicks (2,592 flocks) fed by ForFarmers, the daily animal dose of antibiotics is the lowest at only 1.5 compared to the national average of 1.6. For conventional broilers, the average AD in flocks fed by ForFarmers is 2.4 points lower than the national average (8.1 AD out of 1,200 flocks). The biggest difference in the daily antibiotic dose is seen in rearing flocks. With a low Animal Daily Dose of 3.9 measured across 275 flocks, 2.6 points lower than the national average, ForFarmers customers’ flocks performed best.

“We are proud of the results our customers achieve with their broiler flocks and in rearing,” says Rinze Exterkate, Broiler Product Manager. “They are making an important contribution to sustainable and healthy poultry farming.” “Our poultry feeds are carefully formulated to optimally promote and support the health of the chick or hen.

Because only with healthy animals can our customers achieve the best results.” The Animal Daily Dose of antibiotics provides an insight into the animal health of the Dutch poultry flock. Since 2009, the poultry sector has been working to reduce the use of antibiotics, with good results. Poultry farmers, veterinarians and farm visitors are working together on the antibiotic approach by collecting and analysing animal health data in order to take steps to further reduce the use of antibiotics.
