Keeping breeder hens strong: controlling endotoxins for better egg quality
ShareShareShareShareShare

For poultry breeders, each egg is valuable. Success depends on quality, hatchability and the resilience of hens. Every egg is an investment in the next generation, so losses affect both current and future productivity. Problems like cracked shells, small eggs and mortality often trace back to an overlooked culprit: endotoxins.

Endotoxins – the hidden threat
Endotoxins are fragments of gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli. Normally present in the gut, their levels rise under stress from heat, feed changes, infections or antibiotics. Once they cross the intestinal barrier, they trigger inflammation, reduce nutrient absorption and impair calcium use. In hens, this leads to weak shells, small eggs and higher mortality.

Endotoxin stress reduces hatchability, increases mortality and adds workload through sick birds and higher veterinary costs. For breeder farms with tight margins, these preventable losses are particularly harmful.

Comprehensive protection: Anta®Catch
Anta®Catch counters endotoxins with triple protection: activated surfaces lower endotoxin load in the gut, prebiotics strengthen the intestinal barrier, and phytogenics support detoxification and reduce inflammation. This helps maintain egg quality and flock health.

A field trial in Taiwan with 4,000 broiler breeders showed strong results. Mortality fell by up to 37%. Small eggs dropped by 81% and 57% in two barns. Soft-shelled eggs decreased by up to 34%, broken eggs by 11%. This means fewer downgrades, better hatchery output and more stable productivity.

Efficiency and profitability for farmers
Endotoxins waste feed, raise mortality and demand extra care. Controlling them results in healthier, more resilient flocks and better use of resources. Anta®Catch helps breeders stay competitive under cost pressure.

Endotoxins may be invisible, but their impact is clear: fragile eggs, fewer chicks and higher losses. With its holistic approach, Anta®Catch reduces damage, strengthens resilience and safeguards productivity. Trials prove its value: more viable eggs, healthier hens and improved survival. For breeder farmers, where every egg counts, Anta®Catch ensures long-term success.
