Successful event features best practices in hatchery management
TIBA Poultry Grandparent Company, Aviagen®’s exclusive distributor of Indian River® in Egypt, recently welcomed 75 guests, including customers and other stakeholders, to its third annual poultry academy.
Held in the historic city of Luxor on the bank of the Nile River, the four-day conference covered essential best practices for effective hatchery management that leads to optimum chick health and welfare.
Specific topics explored were:
- Vaccination and other disease prevention method
- Chick quality
- Proper management of the hatch window
- Sanitation and health solutions for poultry and machinery
For many, a highlight of the event was a lecture by Veterinarian Dr. Peter Wijnine, who shared his insight on pathology and its impact on hatchability. Other discussions were led by experts from the event sponsors, a TIBA consultant and Aviagen. As a wrap-up to the informative sessions, the group participated in a “Poultry Wizards” contest to reinforce concepts covered throughout the week.
Indian River has become increasingly popular in Egypt due to the hard work and commitment of the TIBA team, as well as traits such as excellent bodyweight and carcass composition, good feed efficiency and environmental resistance, along with the performance and value of the breeder package, which all serve to strengthen the businesses of Egyptian poultry producers.
“We value our distributors and consider them an extension of our own team, and we appreciate the tremendous job that TIBA has done to promote the Indian River brand and build up a loyal base of dedicated growers in Egypt. We look forward to many more years of working hand-in-hand with TIBA to build up the businesses of their customers and further the poultry industry in Egypt. The poultry industry in Egypt is focused on becoming fully integrated in the future and Indian River is the best breed for integrations, as they will benefit from excellent broiler performance, high chick numbers, and will deliver the full package to integrated companies,” commented Mohsen Ganjaei, Indian River Commercial and Product Support Manager.
Amre Aly, General Manager, TIBA added, “Our annual Poultry Academy is an important event for us and our customers. We strongly believe in promoting the Indian River brand and ensuring our customers have the best customer support possible to achieve the best results with their flocks.”
