Evonik presented Precision Livestock Farming as part of its knowledge-based system solutions for efficient and sustainable poultry farming at VIV MEA 2021, UAE.
In addition to nutritional concepts, feed ingredients and application services, it will also showcase digital tools for farm management. Visitors to Evonik’s booth got information about the myAMINO eBusiness portal, which makes important information and services accessible around the clock.
Increasingly precise control of the production process has proven key to further exploiting the genetic potential of the animals. “By continuously monitoring the situation in the chicken house, valuable data can be obtained that allows reliable predictions to be made using artificial intelligence and biostatistics. This makes the process plannable and controllable,” says David Simmons, head of PLF Business Program at Evonik Animal Nutrition, describing the principle behind the Porphyrio® software solution. This reduces inefficiencies and process costs, and increases profits.
In his presentation, “Dare Digital – Precision Livestock Farming,” Simmons explained what digital farm management can do, how it can be achieved, and the role of animal health and nutritional status.
Feed ingredients such as essential amino acids remain one of the most effective approaches to feeding livestock healthy, efficient and sustainable diets. Probiotics such as Ecobiol® are one important component of Evonik’s system solutions. They help maintain intestinal health and productivity in the chicken house-without the use of antibiotic growth promoters.
As the first-limiting amino acid in poultry, methionine also plays a crucial role. “To compare methionine products, you need to know their relative nutritive value,” says Martin Smith, Technical Service Director MEA at Evonik Animal Nutrition. “Then the purchasing decision can help optimize feed costs.” Numerous studies conducted by Evonik on five continents under a wide range of conditions show that 65 units of MetAMINO® (DL-Met) can achieve the same growth performance in livestock as 100 units of liquid MHA-FA.
