Recently, Biovet S.A. has carried out a trial in Japan to evaluate the efficacy of Alquernat Nebsui, product based on intestinal conditioner pronutrients, in laying hens in hot environments. The general conclusions demonstrate that the administration of the product improves the status of the digestive mucosa and increases nutrients absorption. As a result, laying rate and egg weigh are increased.
Heat stress influence on layers
During hot seasons, laying rate may be affected by the high temperatures. This phenomenon results in lower egg production and eggshell disorders. Another stressful factor for layers is age. As the age of layers increases, they ability to absorb nutrients decreases as well as the production, size of eggs and eggshells problems.
In this context, Biovet S.A. carried out a trial in a commercial farm in Japan to study the use of Alquernat Nebsui as an intestinal physiology optimizer and as an intestinal absorption enhancer during hot seasons.
Results shown an improvement of the physiological status of the intestine that results in a higher production of eggs (6.2%) and in an increase of egg weight (0.5 grams per egg), keeping the qualities of the eggshell.
The benefits were achieved thanks to an improvement of the intestinal mucosa that helps to increase nutrients absorption and animals can produce more and bigger eggs.
Previous trial in Mississippi
In 2018, Biovet had already developed a trial in the Mississippi State University in which the effect of Alquernat Nebsui on productive parameters in laying hens was proven.
Results shown better productive parameters with a higher laying rate (+2.9%) and better FCR. In addition, higher content in carotenes in the yolk was observed in the treated batch what showed that intestinal absorption was increased.
